Cornerstone 1: Engagement 

Vision Theme: Learning with Courage 

The Wellbeing curriculum supports pupils’ emotional, social, and mental health. Through creative and reflective practice, pupils learn to understand their emotions and build confidence in managing them. 

  • Promotes positive mental health and emotional regulation. 

  • Follows the Five Ways to Wellbeing: Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning, Give. 

  • Encourages courage in exploring emotions through sensory and creative activities. 

  • Builds self-awareness, belonging, and empathy through teamwork. 

  • Creates inclusive, calm, and joyful spaces for participation. 

Cornerstone 2: Aspiration 

Vision Theme: Thrive through Ambition 

Wellbeing lessons empower pupils to take ownership of their emotional development. They build resilience and self-awareness through choice-based, creative activities that inspire ambition and growth. 

  • Flexible, low-demand structure meets individual sensory and emotional needs. 

  • Incorporates mindfulness, art, movement, journaling, and outdoor learning. 

  • Encourages self-reflection, goal-setting, and celebration of progress. 

  • Connects with PSHE and Communications to embed holistic wellbeing. 

  • Begins with check-ins and ends with reflection to promote calm focus. 

Cornerstone 3: Become Future Ready 

Vision Theme: Preparation for Adulthood 

Wellbeing equips pupils with lifelong coping and regulation strategies to manage change, challenge, and transition. It ensures pupils flourish emotionally, socially, and mentally into adulthood. 

  • Promotes resilience, independence, and confidence for life beyond school. 

  • Encourages self-knowledge, compassion, and empathy in relationships. 

  • Prepares pupils for transition through awareness of support strategies. 

  • Fosters emotional literacy and the ability to self-regulate under pressure. 

  • Empowers pupils to lead balanced, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
